Examining the Doctrine of Unconditional Election: John Calvin, Canons of Dordt, Predestination Have you ever heard of the doctrine of Unconditional Election? Have you ever heard of the doctrine of Predestination? You will not find the doctrine of Unconditional Election in the Bible, however you will find the doctrine of Predestination. The doctrine of Unconditional Election comes from the doctrines of Calvinism known as the “TULIP.” The “TULIP” stands for: “Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, Perseverance of the Saints.” The main teachings of Calvinism come from John Calvin and the Canons of Dordt which are considered official Calvinism theology.
